Illusion Art Museum: Challenge Your Own Eyes
Do you think that your eyes provide you a real picture of reality? Have you ever question things that you can see with your own eyes. Do you trust the reality around you? If these questions make you curious and you are ready to discover more, challenge yourself in the Illusion Art Museum. Moreover, you will have a bonus during your visit, a private view of the Astronomical Clock at the Old Town Square.
Illusions Everywhere
This museum offers a unique concept of optical illusions that you won’t find in any other city around the world. It combines illusionist art with modern technologies, so you are more than welcome to take your smartphone, capture it by yourself and see the difference between the reality and picture on your screen.
The whole first floor is devoted to different kinds of illusions. Between the heap of different objects, you will find personalities such as Franz Kafka or Nikola Tesla. Challenge your perspective with a divided chair or triangle that looks like one object on the picture or take a profile picture with a spectacular angel’s wing. All over the floor, you will also find paintings that are somehow jumping out of your perspective.
Temporary Exhibitions
The second floor is devoted to temporary exhibitions. We had the luck to see a beautiful exhibition created by six Czech and six Slovak street artists portraying different moments of our history. On the third floor, there is a new exhibition under preparation that will show you the world from a blue and red perspective. During the whole visit, you have a spectacular view of the astronomical clock without crowds of the tourist stepping on your feet.
Secrets of Illusion Art Museum
There is one more hidden gem that is not always open to the public. Underground the museum is an original ground floor of the Old Town Square that is several meters under the current one. I love to explore it together with Jakub and Jonathan who are running the museum and have great plans for the future. Come and explore the museum by yourself because it will be an unforgettable experience.
How to get to Illusion Art Museum:
Just find the Astronomical clock on Old Town Square, one of the main highlights in Prague. Once you are facing it, turn 180° and find the white-yellow house with the name Illusion Art Museum in the middle. The entrance is through the arcade and huge wooden doors. Here you are.
If you are already at Old Town Square, escape the crowds and have a café with local scout institution, just next to the astronomical clock!
